Ben Lukas Boysen has forged a distinguished career by turning unconventional sounds into immersive musical experiences. At the age of 18, he released his first album, created using samplers and tape loops. This milestone led him to establish his own Berlin studio and release several subsequent albums. Since then, Boysen has produced numerous records, many under the alias HECQ, and released three LPs under his own name on Erased Tapes Records.
Ben has also conducted numerous workshops on composition and sound aesthetics and has created bespoke sound designs for films, commercials, video games, and installations. His clientele includes renowned brands such as Audi, Ableton, Lexus, Nike, Mazda, BMW, Polaroid, Marvel Comics, Sky, Cartier, Ritz Carlton, Google and Swarovski. His first film score, for "Restive," debuted in 2011, followed by scores for the Sony PlayStation game "Everything" (2016), the feature film "The Collini Case" (2019), and the Amazon Prime series "Beat" (2018), which earned the DAFF Award for Best Television & Film Soundtrack.
In 2023, Ben co-composed the score for Aylin Tezal's new feature film, "Falling into Place," collaborating with Jon Hopkins. He also scored the 8-part Sky TV series "The Lazarus Project 2," after his successful involvement with the first series.
